(1) Functional Medicine is about going to the root cause(s) of illness. Using Functional Clinical Nutrition or Functional Laboratory Testing Dr. Bivins is pursuing the root causes of illness or hormonal imbalance.  It is about naturally resetting our body’s feedback loops. It is about identifying hidden stressors that may fatigue our adrenal glands 24 hours per day which in-turn fatigue the sex hormones.  The goal of Functional Laboratory Testing then is to evaluate the foundational system of the body. There are four foundational systems upon which all other systems rely.  These primary systems are the Hormonal/Immune, Metabolic, Digestive and Detoxification systems.
